The major goals of Addis Ababa Youth Association are identified as follows.

1.       To create sense of voluntarism and culture of voluntary community service among the youth in Addis Ababa.

2.       To alleviate economic and social problems of the youth reducing unemployment and economic poverty as well as anti social involvements of the youth.

3.       Empowering the youth to develop the culture of democratic culture and preservation of   human rights, and orientation of the youth about the national prides and identities of the Ethiopian culture, as well as the preservation of cultural wealth of the country.

4.       To alleviate the rapid spread of HIV/AIDS among the youth

5.       To empower the youth to be the major tool of the country in poverty reduction activities.

§         Provision of skill trainings and capacity building the sphere of different economic sector and professional schemes.

§         Provision of credit service for the needy youth who can use the credit as the means for job creating.

§         Awareness creation among the youth about the impact of HIV/AIDS and behavioural change.

§         Provision of an integrated service for the in different youth centers in the Addis Ababa which involves, information centre, music, entertainment, sport, libraries and the like.

§         Provision of integrated service for the youth concerning HIV/AIDS it also includes awareness creation service, sex education, family planning, reproductive health and home based care for HIV/AIDS victim how to care for HIVAIDS victims etc.

§         Establishment new anti AIDS clubs and empower the capacity of the existing anti AIDS clubs 

§         Provision of teachings about the democratic and human rights so as to make the youth develop democratic culture.

§         Promoting culture of democracy also involves different discussions in order to empower the youth to actively participate in issues concerning the youth in political forum.

§         Promoting the capacity of the youth in participating in political forums like election.
